Why meet with our nutrition dietitian?

Our practice recognises that individual nutrition needs vary, and having a credentialled professional on hand matters. A nutrition dietitian brings both scientific knowledge and clinical experience to help you manage health conditions, improve eating habits and optimise your wellbeing. For some, a nutrition diet doctor may be appropriate, someone who integrates clinical medicine and nutritional science to manage diet-sensitive conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders and weight-related concerns.

At our clinic, you will work with a practitioner who understands how food, nutrients and health interact, and can offer practical, realistic strategies, not fad diets, no one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, you’ll receive a plan built around your lifestyle, preferences and health goals.

What to expect in your first consultation

When you book in with our nutrition dietitian, you’ll begin with a thorough assessment of your current eating habits, medical history, lifestyle factors and health goals. We’ll discuss your relationship with food, any medications or conditions, and your daily routines. From there, the nutrition dietitian or nutrition doctor will work with you to shape a plan that fits your context, not just what’s ideal on paper, but what’s achievable in real life.

You can expect:

  1. A comprehensive interview to clarify your nutritional status and health background.
  2. Clear explanation of how specific nutrients and eating patterns impact your condition or goal.
  3. Tailored recommendations with actionable steps, whether that’s meal structure, ingredient choices, portion control or lifestyle tweaks.
  4. Follow-up planning to monitor your progress, refine your approach and support sustainable change.

Conditions we support

Our dietitian service is well-suited to a wide range of needs, including:

  1. Weight management (both loss and gain) under safe, evidence-based guidance.
  2. Metabolic health: managing or reducing risk of diabetes, dyslipidaemia, and hypertension.
  3. Gastrointestinal concerns: dealing with intolerances, IBS, reflux or digestive disorders.
  4. Eating behaviour and nutrition support: working through disordered eating patterns, binge-eating, or developing healthier habits.
  5. Sports nutrition and active living: optimising recovery, performance and overall nutrient balance.
  6. Life stage nutrition: supporting nutrition during pregnancy, early childhood, older age, or managing chronic disease through diet.

With a credible nutrition dietitian as part of your care team and, when relevant, collaboration with our GPs and other clinicians, you’ll receive cohesive support aligned with your health journey.

How will this help you?

Choosing to engage with a qualified nutrition dietitian and nutrition doctor can make a real difference. You’ll develop nutrition literacy, gain confidence in food choices, reduce confusion from conflicting diet messages, and learn how to eat in a way that sustains your health. Over time, you may experience improved energy levels, better weight control, enhanced sleep, reduced medication dependency (in consultation with your doctor) and an overall improved sense of wellbeing.

Importantly, our approach is grounded in long-term habits rather than quick fixes. We work with you so that changes stick and become part of your daily life, not something you drop after a few weeks.
