What pathology services are provided?

Within our dedicated pathology clinic, you’ll find:

  2. Specimen collection for urine, stool or other diagnostic materials as required by your doctor.
  3. Rapid dispatch of samples to certified laboratories so your doctor can receive results promptly.
  4. Communication of abnormal findings to your GP, and if needed, a prompt consultation for follow-up.
  5. The convenience of returning to our pathology suite if additional tests are required, often without leaving the centre.

How the process works

  1. Your GP discusses the tests you need and generates a referral to our on-site pathology clinic.
  2. You attend our pathology suite at a time that suits you, with a valid referral and ID.
  3. Our friendly staff collect the sample with minimal waiting; we prioritise patient comfort and privacy.
  4. The specimen is processed and sent for analysis in accredited laboratories; your GP receives the results electronically.
  5. Your doctor reviews the findings and explains any next steps for treatment or monitoring.

Faster coordination of care

your treating doctor and the pathology team work in tandem.

Consistent records

all your test results and records stay within our clinical system.

A familiar environment

especially helpful for those who may feel anxious about testing.

Who can use this pathology clinic?

Our pathology clinic is available to all patients treated at our centre, including those seeing our GPs for primary care, workcover issues, driver-medical assessments, skin cancer checks and chronic disease management. If you require pathology services, we are fully equipped to handle referrals for both routine screening and more specialised diagnostic testing.

What to bring and how to prepare

When you attend for testing, please bring:

  1. A valid referral from your doctor.
  2. Your Medicare card (if eligible) or private insurance details.
  3. A list of current medications or relevant health conditions.
  4. Instructions provided by your doctor (e.g., fasting, timing, hydration).

If fasting is required for blood tests, please follow your doctor’s instructions regarding food and fluids. Our pathology suite staff will confirm any pre-test preparations at the time of booking.

Safety, quality and accreditation

Our pathology services meet strict standards recognised in Australia. The laboratories we use are accredited and operate under rigorous guidelines to ensure accurate, reliable results. Our staff follow established protocols for specimen collection, storage and transport to minimise error and maintain sample integrity. Patient confidentiality and data security are integral to all testing and reporting procedures.

Supporting your whole-of-health journey

Pathology is a powerful tool for monitoring health, detecting disease early, managing existing conditions and guiding treatment decisions. When you engage with our pathology clinic, you are part of a care pathway that is guided, responsive and designed around your health. Your GP will interpret results within your wider health context, not simply as isolated numbers.

Our commitment to you

From the moment you arrive at our pathology clinic through to the discussion of your results with your GP, we strive for clarity, respect and service excellence. We aim to make your testing experience straightforward and stress-free and to ensure the results contribute meaningfully to your care. If you have questions or concerns at any step before, during or after testing, our team is ready to assist.

Frequently Asked Questions

A pathology clinic is a facility where diagnostic tests (such as blood, urine or tissue samples) are collected and processed. These tests help doctors assess your health, monitor conditions or guide treatment decisions.

Many tests referred by a doctor are eligible for a Medicare rebate. However, eligibility depends on the referral, test type, your Medicare status and any private insurance you may hold. Please check with our reception for current information.

The timing for results varies depending on the test type and the laboratory involved. Your GP will advise when you can expect results, and once received, will review them with you and explain any next steps.

Some tests require fasting or other preparation (such as avoiding certain foods or medications). Your doctor or our pathology staff will inform you of any special instructions when issuing your referral.

At our centre, the pathology services are accessible via referral from your GP. Please check with our reception if you do not yet have a referral or need assistance.

Once the laboratory has processed your sample, the results are forwarded to your GP. Your doctor will then discuss the findings with you, recommend any further testing or treatment, and update your health plan accordingly.
